The Computer Vision and Multimedia Laboratory (CVML) was founded in 1989 by Prof. Thierry Pun. It is headed by Profs. Thierry Pun, Sviatoslav Voloshynovskiy and Stéphane Marchand-Maillet. The laboratory currently comprises about 20 researchers at various academic levels (research assistant, post-doc, assistant-, associate- and full- professor). The laboratory carries out research in computer vision, multimedia processing, management and security, as well as human-machine interaction. Research applies to visual media such as images and videos, to sounds, and to physiological signals. Research results are described in about 300 refereed scientific publications and in 8 patents. The laboratory is divided into three research groups:
Stochastic information processing (SIP): information forensics and security, statistical signal processing, digital fingerprinting, physical object security, object recognition on mobile devices;
Data Mining and Machine Learning (VIPER): multimedia data analysis, indexing, retrieval, exploration;
Affective Computing and Multimodal Interaction (MMI): emotions analysis, brain-computer interaction, multimodal human-computer interaction.
